2023-09 Knightly News From the Grand Knight’s Desk:
Worthy Brothers
Although not much went on this past month, it was the calm before the storm. The family picnic went well, narrowly escaping the rain. Thank you to all that were able to attend. Unfortunately, the Hammer Open did not receive the support that was expected with 0 foursomes preregistered. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, we will make a stronger come back for 2024. With that lets have a strong and fruitful September. Hopefully we’ve all had a chance to recoup from Founders Days as the STMM Oktoberfest if right around the corner on September 16th and 17th. This year will be unlike years past, Saturday’s headlining band will be Modern Day Romeos. We will definitely need all hands on deck. Not long after Oktoberfest we will have a chance to relax starting September 27th with the Fall retreat on beautiful Long Lake, WI. To those of you that are already signed up, I look forward to the fellowship and brotherhood to be shared, if you haven’t signed and are still considering, I suggest that you to speak with Ken Priggie ASAP, it truly is an epic excursion.
My Brothers, this month also marks the 22nd anniversary of 9/11, let us take a moment to remember those brave individuals that lost their lives in the senseless attacks.
O God, our hope and refuge, in our distress we come quickly to you. Shock and horror of that tragic day have subsided, replaced now with an emptiness, a longing for an innocence lost.
We come remembering those who lost their lives in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania.
We are mindful of the sacrifice of public servants who demonstrated the greatest love of all by laying down their lives for friends. We commit their souls to your eternal care and celebrate their gifts to a fallen humanity.
We come remembering and we come in hope, not in ourselves, but in you.
As foundations we once thought secure have been shaken, we are reminded of the illusion of security. In commemorating this tragedy, we give you thanks for your presence in our time of need and we seek to worship you in Spirit and in truth, our guide and our guardian.
Amen.
