KOFC – Council 11091 Newsletter
From the Grand Knight’s Desk:
Brothers:
I pray that you had a Blessed Easter season. It was great to see the church filled with people giving praise to our risen savior on Easter Sunday. Alleluia, alleluia!!
Another celebration that was held in April was our Council Anniversary Dinner. Chris and Kathy Burns did a wonderful job hosting the event. Great food and fellowship were enjoyed by everyone in attendance. For those of you who were unable to attend the dinner, we recognized several of our members with the following annual awards. Please congratulate these brothers when you see them.
Rookie of the Year: Karl Gray Senior of the Year: George Jost Family of the Year: Marv Basch Knight of the Year: Dave Campbell Lifetime Achievement: Ed Henning (The Elder)
Our Membership Chairman Rick Limbach and I attended the State of Illinois KC Convention last weekend. There were several thought provoking and motivating presentations. Overall the Order is in good shape, our charitables and volunteer hours remain high, insurance is strong, and several councils made great strides in increasing membership. We were reminded that our events and fundraising should be spiritually TRANSFORMATIONAL in nature, and not just a transactional function of profit making. Rick and I thank you for your support in sending us to attend this convention.
We also had our best attended Fish Fry of the season in April. Many thanks to Ken and all the members (and their wives) that put in long hours, setting a high standard that makes our culinary experience rival that of local restaurants. Our April Blood Drive and Feed My Starving Children sessions also were successful events, thanks to everyone that volunteered during such a busy time of the month.
Our participation in the Shamrock Shave was highlighted by Supreme in the April edition of “Knights in Action”. You can check the Columbia website to read what they had to say, and to view what activities other councils are doing.
Looking ahead in May we have the Culture of Life distribution of Mother’s Day Flowers, and the decoration of our Veteran’s Graves at Holy Sepulcher/Rock Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in West Dundee. Look for additional communications in this newsletter and in upcoming emails.
Our fraternal year ends in June, and so it is time for nomination and election of the next slate of council officers. Listed below are the current officeholders, and those nominees that we will vote on in our June meeting.
In addition to the above, Greg Freund will continue as our Financial Secretary. The role of Lecturer is appointed by the Grand Knight, and Sal Corona has accepted this position.
Happy Mother’s Day to all our better halves that support us in doing what we do.
Vivat Jesus!
