The Knightly News – Council 11091
From the Grand Knight’s Desk
My Worthy Brother Knights!
“His mercy endures forever” – Psalm 118
We are in the midst of the Season of Lent and Easter will soon be upon us. In his recent Sunday message, Pope Francis urged the faithful to open themselves to the light of Christ and not be hindered by pride or interior blindness.
“Sometimes unfortunately from the height of our pride we judge others, and even the Lord! Today, we are invited to open ourselves to the light of Christ to bear fruit in our lives, to get rid of the behaviors that are not Christian.” He goes on to say “All of us — everyone, eh? — have acted, sometimes, not like Christians, because we are sinners, no? And we have to repent of this in order to walk the path of sanctity decisively,” he urged.
As we prepare for Easter let us take some time during Lent to be reconciled. This is the season when we focus on the life to which God calls us, and that life is a life without sin. Please take advantage of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In particular, our Bishop has asked all parishes to provide special focus to this on Wednesday April 9th. At St. Margaret Mary confessions will be offered 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM on that day. The goal of this day is captured by this – for all to “Be Reconciled.”
March Activities
Wow! What a busy month of March. Thank you to all who coordinated, setup, served, cleaned up, and attended the various events we participated in this past month. In particular, we had a number of food events, Shamrock Shave, Fish Fry Friday, and Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, that all take a lot of planning and coordination. The success of these events was due to all your hard work and is greatly appreciated by the members of our parish community.
April Activities
Our great council is never lacking in opportunities to serve others in our parish community. Please check your calendar and look at the following dates and please consider donating some time, talent, or treasure (even some blood!) over the coming month.
We will be serving Breakfast at All Night Bingo at Marian, Sunday Rosary, and Prayer Service for Families in Need, a Blood Drive, Paintball, and our final Fish Fry. All of this while preparing for and enjoying the Easter Season!
Check Out the Columbia Magazine
This month’s issue of the Columbia Magazine has some great articles on the future Saint – Pope John Paul II. In particular, I would invite you to read the great article, “The Birthplace of the New Evangelization” The faith and strength of John Paul II and the community he came from is very uplifting.
