The Knightly News – Council 11091

From the Grand Knight’s Desk:

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. Or as I have learned in the world today, you must be comfortable being very uncomfortable.
April of 2017 is a month of my life, my family’s life, our Council’s life and our Parish community life that we will never forget.
We started off with a well-attended and quite enjoyable dinner celebrating our Council’s 24th Anniversary and honored some very special Knights, their families and special friends of our Council. For those of you who do not know:

We had record breaking success with our fish frys. The menu continues to just get better and better. Lots of volunteers and shiny new appliances made the night run very smoothly. Delicious food and great fellowship.

We celebrated Easter with our Parish and our families. The weather was great!

Our Council was tremendously excited and proud to learn that our very own SK Ken Prigge was to be honored by our State Council as State of Illinois Knight of the year. I had the privilege of being present when Ken gave an exceptional and yet very humble acceptance speech where he emphatically thanked our Council for all we do and that we as his brothers are his and his family’s inspiration.

All the while we were happy that Talia and her family were able to go to Hawaii and enjoy a wonderful family vacation. I met with Greg about a week ago and he told me about swimming with the dolphin’s and the lazy river pool and Talia being able to fly first class. I then asked him when the next trip was planned and he told me Talia was struggling a little and they were not sure when. Seven days later, Talia passed away. Wow, life can change in an instant. Hug your parents, hug your spouse, hug your kids and grandkids… and of course hug your brother Knights. Life is short, change is inevitable. We cannot avoid it no matter how hard we try. I know that Talia and her family would like you to know that… She knew where she was going because she is an angel. And that they are overwhelmed by the support of all their Knight friends and families. I am so very proud to be part of this community. You amaze me every day.

Please pray for Talia, Owen, Tabitha, Greg and all their family in this time of great sadness for their strength and wellbeing. There will be a Visitation this Saturday at Saint Margaret Mary from 10 AM to 11 AM with Mass immediately following.

Talia and her strength and spirit have helped our Council in many ways and I am sure that like my family, she will be always remembered by all who had the privilege of getting to know her.

I have lots more I should say but I am at somewhat of loss for words. We need 7 (hint, hint) more good Knights and check your calendar for upcoming events. We need some of you to step up for Founder’s Days please.

I am humbled to serve as your leader. Thanks for all that you do.
