The Knightly News – Council 11091
From the Grand Knight’s Desk:
In daily life it is not happiness that makes us grateful, but gratefulness that makes us happy….I hope and pray all of you and your families have had a wonderful Christmas season. 2017-01-knightly-news
It has been a very busy and productive December for our Council…
We started the month off with all hands on deck at our Christmas Tree lot. I would like to commend our Tree Lot Committee on the excellent job they did this year, upgrading the lighting, upgrading racks, better staffing, making it the experience excellent… etc. They gave their all and I want to thank them all for a job very well done.
We had our annual Knight before Christmas First Degree on the 17th. Prior to this Kevin Wright and team did an excellent job with Pulpit talks. We had 10 candidates this year with 5 of them joining our Council. Recruitment remains our biggest challenge this year and I hope we can count on your help. It is so rewarding to see new Knights at our functions. The new Knights are the future lifeblood of our Council. It is a great way for Catholic parents to show their children the joy of giving time, talent and treasure.
We had an exceptional Christmas party this year with many families coming out and enjoying the great food, fun festivities including Santa and Gift Exchange and fellowship. A great time was had by all. This is due to the efforts of our Chair Ken Prigge and his team. Special thanks to Sue Bongiovanni too.
The very next day was our Christmas with Santa Breakfast. It was very well run and menu simplified. We had great attendance and quite a bit of money (around $800.00) was raised for our charities.
We also took on a very ambitious project this month in the continuing renovations of McDonnell Hall. The kitchen was gutted, walls repaired, painted, new flooring and all cabinets removed and relocated. New stainless cabinets, drawers and tables were installed. All woodwork was cleaned, countertop removed and relocated. This is in anticipation of purchasing new appliances this month with your approval. We even had to shave the door. This by itself is a very ambitious project and entails way more than what you would think. Our worthy brother Knights worked their proverbial butts off. The results are truly worth their effort. However, this apparently was not ambitious enough. Brother Prigge convinced us to kick it up a notch! We also completely re-painted McDonnell Hall. The differences are subtle but we believe we really brightened up the hall. It looks very nice. We also painted the ceiling outside of kitchen and front hallway. Many Knight hours were put into this exceptional project which is now about 98% complete. Thank you to all the Knights who helped!
We will be working in the next few days on calculating the number of volunteer Knight hours we have done year to date. I believe it will be a really great number and I want each and every one of you to know your Parish Community is so tremendously grateful for all you do. From Father Pietr and all the Parish Staff, to all our wonderful ministries, I get the joyous privilege of hearing of their gratitude. Thanks, from your grateful Parish!
We have plans to accomplish a lot more in 2017 and I assure you I will do my best to push us forward. I truly am humbled and blessed to lead this Council….. Thanks to you all for all you do! I wish you and your families a very blessed and healthy, prosperous 2017. Happy New Year!
Vivat Jesus,
Scott
