The Knightly News – Council 11091
From the Grand Knight’s Desk:
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” ~ Acts 20:35
Worthy Knights and friends, It’s hard to believe its February already. Time flies….
Before I tell you about January activities and February’s schedule, I would like to talk about 2016 accomplishments. I had the great privilege to meet with several other key officers and determine the amount of volunteer activities, meetings and hours we gave to our parish, community and charity in 2016. A few things to note….
Our Council participates in over 70 Parish ministries, anything from Choir to the Dinner Dance to Gather, Saint Vincent DePaul and everything in between. If it happens at Saint Margaret Mary, odds are great the Knights are involved.
Our Council along with our families and friends contributed over 27,000 hours of volunteerism. Our Council gave over $80,000 to Charity in 2016. These are incredible accomplishments and I want to thank each and everyone one of you for your efforts. We need to keep moving forward and make it our goal to keep giving all we can.
We had another busy month in January. We passed the budget and purchased new appliances for the McDonnell Hall kitchen. Appliances are now installed (no easy task!) we also added more shelving and will be working on exhaust hood and Pass Through counter in February. We also are looking at building wrap around tables for structural poles in hall. Hope to complete this task as well in February. Thanks, goes to all that worked on this project in January.
A Special thank you goes to SK Zen Zdany who by himself washed, sealed and waxed kitchen floor.
We held our Free Throw Challenge and have plans on hosting district Free Throw Challenge on Saturday February 11th at 2:30 PM. Any volunteers would be greatly appreciated. We participated in The Ministry Fair and recruited a couple new Knights (I hope). We had a new Knight Social with good participation. Thanks to Kevin Wright and Warren Coler! We also helped with the Confirmation Pancake Breakfast. As always I am sure I am missing something. Thanks again for all your efforts,
February activities include: General meeting this Thursday at 7:30 PM in McDonnell Hall District Free Throw February 11 In SMM Gym at 2:30 Pm. Officers Meeting and First Degree (Recruit!) on Thursday February 16th, Ongoing renovations at McDonnel Hall.
Lent does not start until March 1 this year so no Fish Fry until March 3rd.
2016 was a tough year in terms of health issues and losing family members… Please kindly remember that we all have our own struggles and all could use your prayers. This is a wonderful Council and I am grateful and humbled to be your leader.
Thanks,
Vivat Jesus
