Worthy Brothers,
Hope everyone had a great first month of 2024 and you have not given up on your resolutions just yet. We had an abundance of help with nativity set clean up, many hands truly made light work. The free throw contest had 8 participants, big thanks to Paul for chairing this event. Ending our month we had our blood drive, thanks to Marv and all of those that came out to donate a pint and save a life. Generally, we had a light easy month, other than the arctic temperatures we endured but I guess we deal with arctic temps every year at some point.
February is finally upon us, hope the groundhog does not see his shadow, with that it also kicks off the Lenten season. It is a wonderful season to reflect and repent as well as to help renew faith and work on our relationship with God. I look forward to this time every year, and I hope you do as well. When Lent comes around, so does our Friday fish fry, starting on the 16th, keep an eye out for emails. In closing, I leave you this short passage to kick off our Lenten season. Is this not, rather, the fast that I choose: releasing those bound unjustly, untying the thongs of the yoke; Setting free the oppressed, breaking off every yoke? 7
Is it not sharing your bread with the hungry, bringing the afflicted and the homeless into your house; Clothing the naked when you see them, and not turning your back on your own flesh? 8 Then your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your wound shall quickly be healed; Your vindication shall go before you, and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. 9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer, you shall cry for help, and he will say: Here I am!”
