We are blessed in this Council to have both the great opportunities and the small ones. I hope you all are having a great July. July has been a milestone month for our Knight’s family as our daughter Courtney Nejman, Kayla Burke, Jacob Halper, and Ayana Gard are all traveling to Poland for World Youth Day. What amazes me is that all these wonderful youths are sons and daughters of our Brother Knights families. Teresa Chiapone and Mary Letherby of our Youth Ministry are bravely leading our youth to Krakow. It entails two flights, three countries and a 6-hour bus ride to get there. As I write this Teresa has written me that they have arrived in Krakow safely. They are very excited to get to hear the Pope speak. Please be sure to keep our youth in Krakow in your prayers in the days to come.
A group of Chaperones including myself, my wife Ann, Michele Shepard, Bobby Boo Armstrong and Ryan Orabutt had the great opportunity earlier this month to travel to Steubenville with Teresa and 46 of our parish youth. It was a truly an amazing experience. My description would not do” Steubs” justice. We will be asking several of our youth to talk to the Council in September about this experience.
World Youth Day and the Steubenville Conference are just a couple ways our youth experience transformation. In the months to come, I will continue to talk about our Youth and the great experiences that we help make possible through our support. There are few things more important than our youth and I am going to encourage each and every one of you brothers to support our Youth Ministry in any way we can. The Knight’s ID Drive is coming up and we have a new Chairman John Frazier. Thank you John! I have asked John to work with our Youth Ministry to help us with the ID Drive. T and team are looking forward to helping us with this task and whatever other they can help us.
For those of you who do not know, our worthy Treasurer Greg Freund’s 14-year-old daughter has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that is in her spine and shoulder. She is currently undergoing Chemo-therapy. She is a wonderful young lady who is a strong kind individual. She is beautiful in all ways. Please include Talia and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
I am writing this prior to Founders days and hope that all of you will try to make it out to help at least a shift or two. The weather should be beautiful and with the festival moving back to Towne Park and the addition of a car show, it promises to be quite busy.
We have the Hammer Open coming up on August 21. The committee has determined that we always need more golfers! Come join us for a fun day and way to raise money for 4 worthy charities. It really is fun!
Our next first degree is Thursday August 18th at 8 PM. Let’s recruit a few Knights! Also if it’s been a while since you have attended a first degree, it’s a wonderful thing to watch and much more powerful when more Knights are present.
Try to make a difference today by taking advantage of the small opportunities God gives us to help others. Hope to see a great turnout at Founders and our upcoming meeting Thursday August 4th at 7:30
