My Worthy Brother Knights!
Happy Easter…He is Risen Alleluia!
During the Easter Vigil, Fr. Peter called us to live out in our lives each and every day the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To not just be in the resurrection moment once a year during the Easter Mass, but to live it out every day.
Well how do we do just that? We need to live our lives as an example and in the image of Christ, not just at church…but at work, in school, at the ballpark, at the supermarket, driving on the road, in front of our children, with our spouse….and anywhere our two feet take us to in this world. This seems so easy, but living it out is hard. Kindness, Mercy, Forgiveness, Love, Charity…Need to be strong virtues of our lives.
Let’s look at the apostles after the resurrection, were they running around in the streets proclaiming the Good News. No…they were in hiding…scared in the upper room. It was not until Jesus appeared to them and Holy Spirit came to them in Pentecost that they were sent forth to proclaim the “Good News” …the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We as Catholics are all filled with the Holy Spirit in Baptism and in Confirmation. We have the same Holy Spirit dwelling in each and every one of us…. the same Spirit that came upon Peter, John, Paul, and all the Apostles and Saints. We know what they did with the Spirit dwelling within them…. the question is…. what are each of you going to do knowing that the same Spirit dwells in each one of you? Please take some time this Easter to meditate on the resurrection of Jesus’s, the impact it has on your life, and Go Forth to proclaim the good news throughout the year.
I love the story of the Road to Emmaus showing us the impact that the resurrection has in changing the direction of our lives to follow Christ. These apostles are fleeing Jerusalem from fear and thoughts of their own safety as followers of Jesus who was just crucified. But through Him walking among them and breaking bread…It results in their hearts burning for Jesus and they turned back to Jerusalem.
“And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning [within us] while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?” So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem where they found gathered together the eleven and those with them who were saying, “The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!” Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.” – Luke 30-35
It is my hope that this burning heart resides in each one of you and that it may manifest itself through your individual gifts and the loving relationship with God and each other. So let us live out His Gospel and His Resurrection each and every day.
“But these are written that you may [come to] believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name.” – John 31
During this past month…
I would like to thank everyone that has helped assist in our events. Fish Fry’s, Breakfast, and the Shamrock Shave dominated the past month. But that all culminated with the beauty of the Triduum and the resurrection of our Lord.
This coming month…
If you have a graduating senior, be sure to have your child submit a scholarship essay. Lastly, we celebrate as a council mass together during the Easter season which is April 10 at 9:00AM.
