Worthy Brothers:

As I write, we have just entered the Holy season of Lent. In true Knightly style, we kicked off with the first fish fry. The numbers are not in, but judging by the steady stream of customers, I would guess we did well. As we get into March, the excitement builds. For Knights activities, we help with the Shamrock Shave in many, many roles. Following the shave we have two more fish fries scheduled. In the middle of this, and coincidental with our second fish fry is Saint Patrick’s Day. One of my personal favorites.

As mentioned earlier, we are now into the season of Lent. Please take this time to reflect and repent. It is a wonderful season to help renew faith and work on our relationship with God. I look forward to this time in the church and I hope you do too.

January was a fairly quiet month. Highlights included a pasta dinner, Feed My Starving Children, and the fish fry. We had regularly scheduled events as well such as rosaries and Adopt-A-Highway. I discovered early on as Grand Knight, one of the most difficult tasks is to select the Knight and Family of the month. This month is no exception. The group of men and families who get the work done are impressive at every single event. This month Tom Cross and his son showed up early for the pasta dinner. To take on some of the harder tasks in the kitchen continually asking for the next job. For this, the Cross family is selected as the family of the month. Further, the person who goes the farthest out of the way to help shows up for floor duty after the fun is over. Young Patrick Ryan O’Came shows up with a servant’s heart to sweep up the floors after diners are gone. For this reason, Patrick Ryan has been selected as the Knight of the month. Congratulations and thank you to these worthy brothers.

As I wrap this up, I urge you to help recruit. There is more to come, but we are looking at a great class of candidates for our next degree. The event is best when experienced with a greater number men. The more we can recruit, the stronger the council. A date for the degree is forthcoming. Lastly, to touch on a theme, I hope to see everyone at the upcoming events. Bring your passion to all you do and the parish will see it. Through that passion, we can recruit members to do the work as well as the customers to serve. See you Thursday at the next general meeting.
